Even though I had no intention of watching the second match of today I just could not help it and I am so glad that I did, because it was one heck of a game! The second match of the 2006 World Cup was between Poland and Ecuador. Poland have had a pretty good track record when it comes to playing in previous World Cups whereas this year’s World Cup is only the second time that Ecuador have participated. Ecuador’s first World Cup was that of 2002 in Japan and Korea; they only played 3 games where they lost twice and won only once. So everyone’s bets were on Poland thrashing the Ecuadorians. So did it turn out like that? Hell no! To say that this match was surprising is an understatement. Ecuador played a really good game with excellent defense and a great offense. In the end their efforts paid off with Ecuador winning the match 2 goals to 0. It was a really enjoyable game and today’s two games have really got me thinking about the pace of things during this World Cup. Some great soccer was played today and it can only get better during the remaining 62 games. So if your really into football or you just want to check out what all of the fuss is about I really recommend that you check out the official site over at http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com Like I said in my old post the site is awesome with videos, photos, realtime scores, commentary and so much more. So bye for now and enjoy the rest of the games if you love footie. Hopefully I will be able to watch as many matches as I possibly can because after today’s matches it looks like World Cup 2006 is going to be a great tournament to say the least.
